چکیده

In the present study, a consistent and conservative Phase-Field model is developed to study thermo-gas-liquid-solid flows with liquid-solid phase change. The proposed derived help of consistency conditions exactly reduces method for incompressible two-phase flows, fictitious domain Brinkman penalization (FD/BP) fluid-structure interactions, solidification pure material. It honors mass conservation, defines volume fractions individual phases unambiguously, therefore captures change due momentum conserved when solid absent, but it changes appears no-slip condition at boundary. also conserves energy, preserves temperature equilibrium, Galilean invariant. A novel continuous surface tension force confine its contribution gas-liquid interface drag modified from Carman-Kozeny equation reduce velocity zero are proposed. issue initiating in original addressed by physically modifying interpolation function. corresponding scheme solve model, numerical results agree well analytical solutions existing experimental data. Two challenging problems having wide range material properties complex dynamics conducted demonstrate capability model.

A gas-liquid solid phase peptide and protein sequenator.

A new miniaturized protein and peptide sequenator has been constructed which uses gas phase reagents at the coupling and cleavage steps of the Edman degradation. The sample is embedded in a matrix of Polybrene dried onto a porous glass fiber disc located in a small cartridge-style reaction cell. The protein or peptide, though not covalently attached to the support, is essentially immobile throu...

Solid ± solid and liquid ± solid phase equilibria for the restricted primitive model

A Monte Carlo simulation study is made of the phase diagram of the restricted primitive model and of the solid± liquid and solid± solid phase coexistence curves in particular. At low temperatures, there is liquid± bcc coexistence and with increasing density there is bcc± fcc coexistence. These coexistence curves end in a triple point (liquid± bcc ± fcc) above which only liquid± fcc coexistence ...

Natural convection solid/liquid phase change in porous media

A combined numerical and experimental study is reported of solid/liquid phase change in porous media with natural convection in the melt region. The model is based on volume averaged transport equations, while phase change is assumed to occur over a small temperature range. Experiments are performed in a vertical, square enclosure using gallium and glass beads as the fluid and the porous matrix...

Formation of liquid and solid products from liquid phase pyrolysis.

The aim of the present work was to improve the C:O ratio in biomass by preserving the lignin macrostructure of lignocellulosic feed. The intention of liquid phase pyrolysis is to liquefy biomass and prepare biomass for further upgrading steps like hydrogenation and deoxygenation. Pyrolysis was carried out in a non-aqueous liquid phase heat carrier. The process was carried out in a semi-batch re...
